In 2017, my wife and I traded our life of suitcases and boarding passes for one of diapers and burp cloths, as we welcomed the newest member of our family, Micah. And if caring for a newborn wasn’t busy enough, it was also our busiest wedding season yet. Thank you to all the couples and families that I had the privilege of working with this year! Farewell to 2017, and cheers to what’s to come in 2018. With that, I leave you with some of my favorite photos from this crazy year!
Five weeks and a few days ago, Christine and Rey welcomed an adorable baby boy into the world, and his name is Nathaniel. This past weekend, I trekked over to Roseville to visit the little guy and snap some photos. The morning was filled with smiles, laughter, and a few unconventional lullabies — like Drake's "Hotline Bling" and E-40's "Tell Me When To Go."
Last time Rey and Christine were on the blog, they were still only engaged to be married. Not even a year has passed since my engagement session with them, and quite a bit has happened for my brother and my new sister-in-law. In less than a year's time, they've gotten married, they've moved into their new home in Roseville, and now they're expecting their first child.
Just only a couple of months ago, it was just Sara, Rob, and their two feline boys. But recently, the four welcomed a new little girl into their lives — and she goes by the name of Emma. Her parents and her cat brothers are over the moon to have her in their lives. She's sweet. She's adorable. And, admittedly, she's the easiest newborn I've ever photographed. Here are some of my favorites from that Friday afternoon.
Oh, 2016 was a whirlwind of year. My wife and I were bitten by the travel bug, and, in one year's span, we were able to travel to Las Vegas, Disneyland, Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas (again), San Diego, New York City, Disneyland (again), and Chicago. I was able to stand beside my brother at the altar as he married my new sister-in-law. Also, I'm a proud new uncle and plan to photograph the heck out of my new adorable niece. And, of course, I photographed dozens of weddings and portrait sessions for clients both new and old. :)
This family has a special place in my heart. Possibly it's because Mike and Jehn photographed my own wedding. Or perhaps it's because their oldest, Royce, shares my love for LEGOs and is best buds with my puppy, Henri. Or maybe it's because little Sebastian is so stinkin' adorable and acknowledges me as "Mr. Reggie". The list just goes on.
Two Sundays ago, I made my way over to Junipero Serra Park in San Bruno to spend the morning with one very adorable family. The weather was just right, and the light was perfect. And the family? Well, they were sweet, silly, and everything in between. What more could a photographer ask for? Nothing really.
During the Fourth of July weekend, I met up with the Chang family for a family portrait session at Bodega Bay. For you readers who don't know, the "Chang Gang" is made up of 12 people -- four of which are young boys. So to be completely honest, leading up to the session I was a little anxious. Why, you ask? Well, I really wasn't quite sure what to expect!
A year ago, we met Gabriel here on the blog. Back then, he was cute, adorable, and well... stationary. Today, Gabe is just as cute and adorable as he's ever been, but there's one notable difference: he's mobile. I'm not talking about leisurely strolling. He's fast. He runs, jumps, and climbs to his heart's desire. And as for me, the lucky photographer who gets to try and keep up with him? Well, I'm pretty sure I'm ready to be the next American Ninja Warrior.
